Top: Now you can see why elephants are called a "herd". Canadian team (in Zebra-striped pants and jungle hats with red bands) struggles to take control of play in the 1996 World Elephant Polo Championships in Nepal. Elephants love the game and enter into the spirit of it willingly. Catherine is the player closest to the camera.
Right: How do you train for Elephant Polo? From the top of a Ford Explorer, of course. Croquet mallets (courtesy Canadian Tire) were taped to long bamboo rods to give the needed length. Training took place at Eastbourne Golf Course on Lake Simcoe, Ontario.
Below right: Catherine calls encouragement to her team on the field.
Below left: The Canadian Team made a respectable showing and took first prize for the best uniforms. Players, left to right, are Randi DuBois, Catherine, and Robin Perry.
